Going To Rutherford Junior High.

Today we went to Rutherford and did some P.E and music, it was fun. When we were at music we learnt about the drums and a bit of theory. After that we had a go on all of the drums my favourite drums were the bongo and the Congo drums. Then we went to P.E and for a warm up game we played monster ball. Monster ball is when there is a big ball in the middle and you have to throw little dodge balls to hit the monster ball over the other teams line. Facts on the Sun

The sun is the most important object in our solar system it gives all of the planets heat and light. Without the sun life would not be possible on earth. The sun is very hot there is nothing we can compare to the suns temperature on Earth so we can not imagine how hot the sun is.

The sun began billions of years ago before the sun the solar system did not exist. The sun is about four and a half billion years old! Like people, animals and planets, it was born, and eventually it will die. The sun is made out of hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas is turning into helium gas. This creates allot of heat.

When all of the gas has been turned into helium , the sun will start to grow it will grow 100 times it size and when it is finished it will be called the red giant. Sometimes there are big explosions on the sun these are called solar flares. When the moon moves in front of the sun this is called a total eclipse.

Striving For Accuracy

This week we have been focusing on striving for accuracy. We had to draw a picture of one time when we mucked up, and the next time we strived for accuracy. My picture is of when I shot my little brother with a Nerf gun and got it taken of me, the next time I didn't because I had learnt my lesson.

Week 5 Reflection

WHAT: This week I finished of a zombie movie that Mr McMullin and me were making for the six60 project, to share in assembly. I think it was awesome. This week I also went to a science trip to a Genesis Energy program it was great. For the full story go to www.carltonbloggers.blogspot.com and find Isaiah's trip. This week I think that I didn't think about thinking.

SO WHAT: This week I learnt how to put a power point onto my blog. Another thing I learnt was that Uranus is a very gassy planet , it has big clouds of methane gas in it.

NOW WHAT: Next week my goal is to manage my impulsivity at all times. And next week I want to do a B.P technology challenge.

Personification Examples!

Today the felts writing group has been learning about personification, here are some examples.

The car, painted lime green, raced by screaming for attention.

The moon winked at me through the clouds above.

The window panes were talking as the wind blew through them.

Her life passed her by.

The bees played hide and seek with the flowers as they buzzed from one to another.

The stars danced playfully in the moonlit sky.

Facts About Uranus

Uranus is made up of compressed methane gases, and if you compress methane gasses it can create diamonds so it is possible that on Uranus it rains diamonds.  That Uranus has four moons named Miranda (1948), Ariel (1851) , Umbriel (1948) and the biggest Titania (1787) these are the discovered moons but there could be more. That Uranus's core is made out rock and possibly ice.

That the methane gasses on Uranus make Uranus look blue when you look at it through a telescope. That Uranus is the third biggest planet in the solar system. A day is the time it takes a planet to spin around once. A day on Uranus is the same 17 and a half hours on Earth. A year on Uranus lasts 84 Earth years this means that the seasons last about 21 years. That the atmosphere of Uranus is cold but near the centre is very hot.

That Uranus was first named in 1781 after king George the third the planet was later renamed Uranus after the Greek god of the sky.

Making Book Covers

Last week we designed new book covers for our favorite book. First we had to draft the spine and the front and back covers. Then we had to get them checked by a teacher. After that we could publish them on a A4 piece of paper with color, my favorite book was Fantastic Mr Fox. I thought that it was a bit challenging but it was very fun.
