Colons And Semi Colons

A colon is a form of punctuation.

A colon consists of two dots. Example :

A colon is often used to introduce a list of items.

You may have to bring lots of camping gear: Tent, Sleeping Bag and Lantern.


A semi colon is a from of punctuation.

A semi colon consists of one dot and a line. Example ;

A semi colon is used to show a major division in a sentence where a separation is needed between clauses or items.

A clause is a group of words consisting of a subject (often just a single noun) and a predicate (just a single verb).

He was so tired ; however he stayed up to finish his homework.
