Round The Bridges Practise
Today instead of doing normal fitness the people who are doing 5 km round the bridges ran 4 km for practise. At the starting line Tarron, Bailey and Byron sprinted off. Gradually we all caught up until about halfway when everybody slowed down a bit and they were gone again. I ran as fast as possible and came third because Jessie had beaten me. Slowly everybody arrived and Ms Whitwell said this is the last practise.

Week 8 Reflection
WHAT: This week we started off by doing a year six singing practise. The song we were singing was Hall of Fame. I thought that it was hard because the lines were coming on really quickly. For treats we all got a sweet ice cream. On Thursday we had social dancing again.
NOW WHAT: This week I learnt a new dance called the Salsa it was a really fast dance. I also learnt how to work out times table problems.
NOW WHAT: This week I thought that I achieved my goal of not being nosey because I didn't put my nose in any teachers conversations.

Contract
For contract our co2 cars are not allowed to have circle
wheels. We had to respond to that using yellow hat thinking. The yellow hat is
the benefits hat.
My wheels are dodecagons. Dodecagons have 12 sides.
What are the good points? If the floor is smooth it
will slide on one side the whole way.
What are the benefits? It might go faster on one side.
How will this help us? It will make us go faster which might beat the enemies.

Room 15s Camp Day Two
I woke up on Wednesday morning wondering what the next exciting thing was. I pounced out of bed and threw my clothes on then headed outside to see who else was awake. The first thing that hit my eyes was everybody else up before me. So I got packed and before I knew it it was time to go to the Kairau geothermal park. We all climbed onto the bus and left. Finally after I thought the trip was never going to end we were there.
We all peacefully walked of the bus then...
Pooooof we were all blown away by the disgusting smell that came rushing up our nostrils. We all blocked our noses and hoped for the best. After a quiet walk around we came across a bubbling mud pool that looked like a fluffy hot chocolate. It was so smelly I couldn't stay for very long so we all left.
Once we were on the bus we looked at our timetable and saw that we were of to the gondola and luge. WOOHOO is all that I heard come out of everyone's mouth. Once we had arrived we walked to the top and had something to eat we got straight into it. First we had to do the beginners course. I thought that the beginners course was actually the hardest compared to the advanced course, but they were all fun.
Finally it was lunch time so we went to our next stop to have lunch which was Paradise Valley Lion Park. First we all enjoyed our delicious tender bread rolls which we had made ourselves earlier that morning, then we split into groups and started looking around. Once we had had a satisfying look around we watched the lions get feed. The menu for today was stinky revolting horse meat. Surprisingly the lions loved it.We patted some cute little lion cubs it was very exciting.
Finally the thing we had all been waiting for, swimming time. We all whipped of our clothes and flew into the deep blue water. First I swam right to the bottom pulled Casey right to the bottom. The rest of the time we were all swimming around and chilling out.
At last we were back at camp. I was so hungry that I could eat a horse, so I whizzed to the dining room and scoffed back a feast. As time went on we watched a film called the Muppets and then floated to bed.

Room 15s Camp Day one
My eyes flew open it was Tuesday. I got up packed and zoomed
to school were all of my friends were waiting for me to arrive. As soon as I
arrived it was time to leave. We all pounced onto the bus in excitement so we
hit the road.
At the beginning it seemed like the trip was going to last
forever. But suddenly we hit Raetihi. We all flew out the door for the fresh
crisp air. After we had all got heaps of fresh air we sat down for morning tea.
Last toilet stop till Taupo yelled Mrs Larsen so we scadattled over to the
toilet then climbed back on the bus.
On the way to Taupo
it felt like time was zooming by and what felt like ten minutes turned out to
be and hour. With another 30 minutes flying by we were already there. MMMMMMMMM
lunch time I had a giant sandwich filled with juicy salad. We had a little play
around at a park in town, then we hit the road again.
We travelled and travelled and finally hit Rotorua. All of
us were suddenly hit with a fart bomb so we all yelled out pooh Costello. So we
went to our first activity the duck tour. When we arrived there we all got
given these horrible but fantastic duck Quakers. So we all quaked half of the
tour away. We went to all sorts of lakes and hideous smelly mud pits. One of
the best things about the tour was that the tour guide was hilarious. But all
good things must come to an end, so we went back to the beginning and left for
the place we were staying Keswick Christian Camp Dom, Dom, Dom.
Finally we arrived
after the long tiring day. Of course being boys we were hungry so we went to
the dining room and had a delicious, juicy, scrumshes dinner. Afterwards we had
showers got in our pyjamas and headed over to the room where we watched the
brilliant movie School of Rock. We all wriggled into our spots and fastened our
eyes to the movie screen and zipped our
lips. Minute after minute the movie played and in what felt like ten minutes
the movie was finished. That was the end of that exciting day.

School Athletics
On Tuesday we had our Senior School Athletics. We did heaps of activities like high jump, long jump and sprints. I was in the 10/11 year old boys group. First we started off at high jump. The bar ended up going so high that no one could jump it. After that we went to sprints. Mr Waite did it in heats but after that he did some funny races like... slowest from each class and who had the most girlfriends in each class. For the rest of the day we rotated among all of the activities and had a lot of fun.

Week 3 Reflection
WHAT: This week we had bike safety with Constable Val. We all got sent home with a piece of paper to check if our bike is road worthy along with our helmets. The next day we took our bikes out to do a course, the course was to do with U turns, rail road tracks and zig zagging. This week we have also been going swimming. The first day I forgot my togs so I swam in my boxer shorts. Today we also all brought in our projects. Some were good and some were to an appalling standard. For our habit of mind taking responsible risks I think that I took no risks at all this week. For my behaviour goal not to put my nose into other peoples business I failed epicly because it was to tempting to listen into other peoples conversations.
SO WHAT: This week I learnt that my bike is not road worthy yet. I also learnt that some animations are done with code.
NOW WHAT: My goal is to be king of the den. Next week I want to do a BP TECHNOLOGY CHALLENGE!

Co2 Powered Sniper Rifle
For contact we designed something new that used co2 to power it. I made a sniper rifle that uses co2 tanks to propel the missile. When you pull the bolt action reload pole backwards it pulls the popper and slide plus the spring backwards then once that is done the trigger release wire connects to the trigger. When you pull the trigger it tilts on a 45 degree angle which releases the popper and slide which pops the co2 and propels the missile. The missile is the co2 tank and the warhead as shown in the picture above.
Risky Character
For inquiry we have been learning about taking responsible risks. For our activity were set to the task of finding a book we have read. We then picked a character and found a risk that they have taken. After that we decided if it is a responsible risk. My character is Fantastic Mr Fox. He stole chickens for the fun of it. This is a irresponsible risk because he didn't need the chickens.

Bike Safety
Yesterday we did bike safety with Constable Val. When she was here she discussed what condition helmets need to be in. Your helmet has to be strong etc. She also said that if you have had a bad accident on your bike that it is best to replace it. With the bikes it is illegal to not have both front and back brakes. It is also illegal to not have a back reflector. Today we brought our bikes to school to learn on them.

Week 2 Reflection
WHAT: This week we went to badminton with Mr Feist. While we were there we went over the basics of badminton, how to hold the racket, the stance and how to tap it back to the opponent. This week we also went out to the main field and played a game of Rippa rugby. I think it was challenging because the opposite team was passing the ball backwards and fourth. For our habit of mind Taking Responsible risks I think I took one by drawing my calendar art really detailed. The risk was that we had to go over the lines in vivid and then dye the whole thing but it turned out to be great.
SO WHAT: This week I learnt that it is hard to play a game of Rippa rugby when you don't pass the ball at all. I also learnt that you tap the shuttle at badminton not whack it.
NOW WHAT: Next week I want to do lots on our co2 cars and my goal for next week is to be king of the den.

After that we went off with a partner to do some rallies. Me and Tarron did 20 hits back and forth. Then we set up the net and did it again this time I was with TeWaoriki and we got 15 hits. After that we walked back to school.

Week 1 Reflection
WHAT: This week we went out to the field to play rippa rugby with two rippa rugby teachers. The two teachers names were Jordan and Junior. First we played a game called finding space. We had to run around and try to find space in the group. When he saw us with space we would get to pick what would get built on our space. On Monday we did a piece of art. The piece of art had to be something we did in our holiday. When we had done that we had to dye the piece of work. This week for our habit of mind ( taking responsible risks) I think I took good responsible risks.
SO WHAT: This week at rippa rugby we learnt how to find space. We learnt that you have to have your head up and you have to concentrate. This week we also learnt heaps of different ways to make pieces of art using cardboard and paint.
NO WHAT: My goal for next week is to listen to instructions at all times and not to rush my work. Next week I want to do a BP technology challenge.

Week 10 Reflection
WHAT: This week on Monday we had the medal ceremony for the Carlton School Olympics. I won 2 gold medals, one for high jump and one for scooter racing. This week we also went on a trip to Palmerston North. When we were there we went to a show from capital E called Magnolia Street. After that we went to the Esplanade to have lunch and play on the playground. After that we went to the Lido public pool and went for a swim. Also on Monday the Year 6s went to Wis for a open day to see if we wanted to go to that school. When we were there we went through rotations science, woodwork, cooking, robotics. For the other days we did normal class work. For habits of mind, gathering data through all senses, I think I did well. When I was with my dog I used all the senses.
SO WHAT: This week I learnt how to use a new website called Edmodo. On Edmodo your teacher can give you assignments that you have to complete then you can complete them and send them back to your teacher. This is how we are doing our school work from now on.
NOW WHAT: Next week I want to get better at using Edmodo. For my learning goal, getting better at spelling I did well.

Olympic Questions
In Room 15 we have been learning about the Olympics. Mrs Larsen gave us 2 questions to answer, this is mine.
How do they decide where the next Olympics are held?
Countries put their name in for consideration. Then they have to show that they can provide the necessary facilities or have the backing to finance the buildings of the necessary facilities. The Olympic committee then considers the various offers along with considering the transport facilities and travel facilities, along with the safety of the city/country.
Have the Olympics been held every four years since they started Why/ Why not
No because they had to stop the Olympic games being held during the world wars because of safety risks. WWI was from 1914 to 1918 and WW2 was from 1939 to 1945. If it did happen in the world wars suicide bombers might go into arenas and because they have huge amounts of people, it could kill thousands of people.

Week 5 Reflection
WHAT: This week we made poi's at Kapa Haka. When we were making them we found out that four plat is very hard to do. So the boys tried there best but me and my buddy didn't make the most beautiful poi. This week we also had our buddy class come to our class. When they were here we went to a program called build my wild self. We had to make a picture of our wild self's. We could include crab hands, lion tails and every thing in between.
SO WHAT: This week I learnt about finding equivalent fractions, I learnt that you have to make them their smallest form to be able to find out if they are equivalent. This week I also learnt that I can keep my cheeky comments to my self. That would cover my behavioral goal not to be cheeky.
NOW WHAT: This week or while I have been writing this I have gathered data through all senses. Next week I want to not be cheeky all week instead of half the week.

Submarines
Submarines are underwater crafts that revolutionized sea exploring. Submarines enabled people to explore the deepest parts of the ocean below the waters surface. Nowadays there are really high tech submarines called Submersibles. They are connected to ships and do not have to have people in them.
Most Submarines contain very high tech machinery for example radars which can detect in coming objects from a distance. Submarines also have a machine called a periscope which comes out of the top of the submarine and can come out of the water to see what is above the water.
Submarines where world famous in the second world war. They were used to silently sneak attack aircraft carriers.

Week 4 Reflection.
WHAT: This week we had a guest speaker come to our class. His name was Mr O'Connor. He came and talked to us about his job in the SIA, first he talked about what he does in the SIA then he showed us some videos about road side bombings. The first video was when the army was driving along in an armored vehicle and then... BAAM a big bomb went of and the camera went blank. We also had a man come and talk to us about financial literacy. He talked to us about how to make money and how to save it safely.
SO WHAT: This week I learnt that it is better to keep your money in a bank so that you can get interest and because if your money tin gets robbed you can't get the money back, If you save it in the bank and the bank gets robbed it has insurance so all of your money will be saved.
NOW WHAT: My all year goal is to not get cheeky... I am failing Drastically. For our habit of mind Gathering data through all senses I think I did Ok I listened and watched carefully when we had Mr O"Connor.

My Reading activity
In class we have been learning to retell a story in main ideas.
Isaiah’s Reading Activity
Beans!
By Patricia Grace.
Illustration’s by Andrew Burden.
Every Saturday in the winter term he bikes to
town to play rugby.
On the way he doesn't get much time to look
around because he is pedalling too hard.
By the time he gets to the grounds he is really
puffed.
Sometimes it is cold and muddy.
After the game he has a shower.
He gets a drink from the dairy after the game.
Going home is the best part of all, getting to
see all of the plants growing.
You see all sorts of people gardening.
Past all of the gardens which are about
2 kilometres from his house.
Just as he starts picking up speed he sees all
of the pigs.
It is not far from his place once he has gone
past the pigs.
When he gets home he leans his bike up against
the tree and kicks back by the lemon tree.
The old Lady across the road says he is full of
beans.
